Oh I guess you specifically want Steam overlay screen shots, is the overlay active during Destiny 2 and did you double check to screen shot key bind in Steam, mine is shift+f12 but my f12 key is also just f12 so the shift+f12 might have just set it to print screen. Have you tried resetting the key bind for screen shot? If F12 on your keyboard doubles as the print screen key then you'll need to hold fn to use print screen unless you have the screen shot key bind specifically set to F12 then I don't know. I use F1 to go to the character screen all the time, and it works. I do have one of these keyboards, but it's set to the F keys without the Fn key. You may also have a keyboard that is defaulted to f keys if they are a shared function key so just press the modifier key.
